In The Mind of a Restoration Contractor.

The cleanup after superheroes; who really saves the day…

It’s is often suggested “leave work life at work, home life at home”, for some, this isan unrealistic idea to achieve. When working in restoration; especially emergency services, we must, like a super hero, always be available. Amongst many emergency responders, we seek to attend and access the damaged; we are your restoration building team.

The first time work came home with me was as I was sitting with my children watching a popular superhero movie. In this movie, the idea of insurance paid out to the property owners was more ideal then the damage done from the heroes: “saving the day”. They explain “it would be better if you just let them get away”. This hit close to home, working for emergency restoration services. I felt my mind wandering as buildings were being nearly demolished during this battle between the villain and hero. I watched buildings catch fire, their landscaping destroyed and fire hydrants with plumbing being ripped from the ground. As my children watched an intense battle scene, I myself was paying more attention to the damage in the background; listing the emergency restoration needed to restore this poor community. From combatting the fire and smoke damage, to providing contents restoration and trauma and crime scene cleanup, it would be a big job, and one that I knew only a great restoration company would be capable of doing.
